Synephrine hydrochloride can be used as a vasopressor for shock, heart failure, treatment of bronchial asthma, as well as hypotension during surgery and anesthesia, collapse and shock, as well as physical and positional hypotension; α- Adrenergic receptor agonists, vasoconstrictors, etc.
1. Effects on cardiovascular system
Intravenous injection of Fructus Aurantii, Fructus Aurantii decoction, Fructus Aurantii extract, Fructus Aurantii injection, and their active ingredients, such as Simphrin hydrochloride, can significantly enhance various indicators of myocardial contractility and pumping function in anesthetized dogs. It has the effect of strengthening the heart, constricting blood vessels, increasing total peripheral resistance, and increasing left ventricular pressure and arterial blood pressure. Modern research has also confirmed that Fructus Aurantii can increase rabbit aortic tension in a concentration dependent manner, causing smooth muscle contraction of the aorta.
2. The effect on weight loss
As a weight loss enhancer, the mechanism of action of Simphrin hydrochloride is to stimulate β- 3 adrenergic receptors cause lipid breakdown and subsequent thermogenic effects. Most dietary supplements containing synephrine hydrochloride also contain other different components, mainly salicylic acid. The combination of the above multiple chemical components can improve the weight loss effect of synephrine hydrochloride. Using rats as the research subjects, the standardized water alcohol extract of sour orange, which is available for commercial use, was orally administered repeatedly to evaluate its food intake and cardiovascular function. It was found that sour orange extract can reduce food intake and weight gain, and the electrocardiogram of the experimental group animals showed abnormalities.
3. Impact on blood pressure
In pharmacology, synephrine hydrochloride is used as a decongestant to treat hypotension in oral form. A study was conducted on 10 healthy adults to investigate the effects of dietary supplements containing lime extract on hemodynamics. It was demonstrated that some dietary supplements can increase blood pressure and cardiovascular excitability in healthy and normal subjects, possibly due to the synergistic effect of multi-component formulas and other stimulants. Animal experimental studies have shown that simferine hydrochloride and lime extract increase blood pressure. For six consecutive weeks, taking lime extract (6% synephrine hydrochloride) and 8 ounces of fruit juice (containing approximately 13-14mg of synephrine hydrochloride) did not significantly affect the blood pressure of the subjects. Evaluating the effect of synephrine hydrochloride on blood pressure may require a longer research period. There are also literature reports that Xinfu has a significant pressor effect, enhancing myocardial contractility, slowing heart rate, increasing cardiac output, increasing coronary flow, and increasing renal blood flow.
